Portrait of Adolf Ogi Adolf Ogi is a member of the Swiss People`s Party (SVP) and was its President from 1984-1987. He was a member of the Swiss Parliament and elected Federal Councillor from 1988-2000. Adolf Ogi was President of the Swiss Confederation in 1993 and 2000.

From 2001-2007 he was Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon on Sport for Development and Peace. He is currently active in a number of other functions including the Advisory of the Swiss Economic Forum, Honorary Chairman of the Swiss Olympic Association, Board of Directors of the NGO Right to Play International, Honorary Board Member of Green Cross International, President Patronage Committee of UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch, President Patronage Committee of the Foundation Swisscor, Honorary Chairman of the Geneva Centre of Security Policy, Member of the International Olympic Truce Committee. President of the Foundation Stockalperturm Gondo.
